Purple Rain

Sale price$31.00

Andrés Cardona started picking coffee at 12.
Today he runs Villa Lucia as a processing
lab, buying cherries from his neighbors and
tuning ferments built to push sweetness
somewhere new. For this Castillo, ripe
cherries are picked at 95% maturity, then
spend 96 hours sealed in tanks with sugar
cane honey before finishing in mechanical
dryers as a natural. The result drinks like
dessert: deep, jammy, and a little decadent.

About the Producer: Andrés Cardona

Purple Rain comes from Villa Lucía, a farm in Santa Barbara, Antioquia that Andrés Cardona manages for his uncle. Andrés has worked in coffee since he was 12, part of a long family tradition, and today he runs Villa Lucía as a processing lab, buying cherries from neighbors and tuning ferments built to push sweetness somewhere new.

He's part of the next generation of Colombian producers, mentored through the UVI Young Producer Program, an effort to make coffee farming a viable career for young people in a country where the average grower is now around 60. His curiosity shows in the cup. Rather than chasing exotic varieties at extreme altitude, Andrés proves that meticulous processing on a workhorse variety can produce something remarkable.
