Summit's Own Café, Now at Your Event

Boxwood has poured coffee in Summit since 2014, from our café at 17 Beechwood Road in the middle of downtown. Our catering team brings that same bar to your event: a mobile espresso cart, a commercial machine and a barista who knows how to run it. Our roastery is about four miles away in Westfield, so the beans in the hopper were roasted close to home.

Summit events tend to mix the personal and the professional. Think backyard graduation parties, open houses, school fundraisers, hospital staff appreciation mornings and team meetings at the life-science offices along Morris Avenue. We size the bar to the event, whether that means a living-room shower or a crowd on a lawn.

Most people in Summit already know what our coffee tastes like, because they have stood in line for it on Beechwood Road. Booking us means serving guests something familiar and well made, not an unknown vendor's house blend.

The baristas who staff our catering bar also work behind our café counters, so drink quality and pace match a busy weekday morning downtown. For venues that ask for paperwork, we carry commercial liability insurance and send a certificate of insurance ahead of the date.

Summit Coffee Bar Options

For most Summit events we bring the full espresso bar: lattes, cappuccinos, flat whites, straight espresso and loose leaf teas, with our house-made Lavender Vanilla, Caramel Cardamom and Mocha syrups plus regular or oat milk.

Smaller gatherings at home often suit the standalone coffee cart, which needs about a five-by-five-foot spot and an outlet. Corporate teams can add branded cups or a cart wrap, and cold brew or matcha work well for warm-weather garden parties.

Pricing is hourly and fully inclusive. Summit is in Union County, so there is no travel surcharge.

Where Summit Events Happen

Summit's calendar runs from the Village Green to private clubs. The Green hosts the Hot Summer Nights concerts and Screen on the Green movie nights, and Reeves-Reed Arboretum holds garden events across its 13.5 acres. Members' events fill Canoe Brook Country Club and the Tudor clubhouse at Beacon Hill Club. During the week, Overlook Medical Center and the Bristol Myers Squibb campus on Morris Avenue are home to large teams that schedule trainings and appreciation days.

Short Hills and Millburn sit just east of Summit, so we treat them as part of the same trip. The Hilton Short Hills has more than 21,000 square feet of meeting space, The Mall at Short Hills is home to more than 160 stores, and Paper Mill Playhouse anchors Millburn's arts scene beside the Rahway River. A coffee bar fits a hotel conference break, a store event or a pre-show gathering equally well.

Summit Coffee Catering FAQ

Is this the same Boxwood as the café on Beechwood Road?

Yes. Catering is run by Boxwood Coffee Roasters, the company behind our Summit café and our Westfield café and roastery. The coffee at your event is the coffee we serve downtown, and the café is open 7am to 6pm every day if you want to taste it first.

Can you set up at Reeves-Reed Arboretum or in a backyard?

Backyards are simple: we need a level space roughly five feet square and a standard outlet, or we bring a generator. Venues such as Reeves-Reed Arboretum set their own rules on outside vendors and use an exclusive caterer for weddings, so check with the venue first and we will follow its requirements.

Do you also cover Short Hills, Millburn and New Providence?

Yes. They are Summit's neighbors and fall in the same no-surcharge area. Tell us the address or venue and we will confirm your date.

What about parking and load-in downtown?

Downtown parking can be tight, especially near the train station at commuter hours. Send us the address and any loading instructions, and we will plan our arrival so the bar is running before your first guest walks in.

How do you price your packages?

We charge by the hour, and all of our packages are fully inclusive of the cost of our baristas, equipment, travel fees, and supplies, including coffee, cups and lids, regular and alternative milks (oat milk), and our housemade syrups.

What do you need to set up?

All we need is level ground, a 5x5-foot area, a power outlet on a dedicated circuit, a space accessible by wheels so we can get our cart in place, and a day-of point of contact to show us where to set up.

What drinks do you offer?

Our carts are coffee shops on wheels. We serve café classics like espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, drip coffee, loose leaf teas, and matcha, along with our house-made syrups (Lavender Vanilla, Caramel Cardamom, Mocha). We also offer our signature Honey Cinnamon Latte and can create a custom signature drink for your event. Cold brew and iced drinks are available as add-ons.

How far in advance should I book?

For most events, 2 to 4 weeks advance notice is ideal. For larger conferences or events with custom branding, more lead time is helpful. We can often accommodate shorter timelines — reach out and we will let you know what is possible.
